Is negative thinking getting you down?

Well, for me like many people, the situations that COVID has thrown up have been tough to deal with. I’ve struggled a bit with depression. I have not always shown up how I would like to with my family, friends, and colleagues. I was unable to go to the gym, visit people, or give my mum and dad a big cuddle. Work had been hard to come by. My finances were diminishing a lot quicker than I hoped.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the negativity of everything.

A different perspective

After learning about Positive Intelligence (PQ), I decided to afford myself a whole different outlook on the whole pandemic. Instead of sitting back and deciding it was all bad, I decided to look for opportunities and take them.

The pandemic has allowed me to:

  • Spend much more time with my wife and kids! Precious time I would never have had if I’d been commuting each day.

  • Improve my spiritual practice by taking up Yoga and Meditation each day in lieu of being able to go to a gym.

  • Level up with my career by making use of all the amazing online content that’s been created.

  • Working next to my piano and really engaging with my piano practice

Try it...

Take some time to reflect. Close your eyes and spend 3-5 minutes thinking about all the things you are grateful for. You may be surprised how much you take for granted.

Grab a pen and paper and note them all down.

Now, contemplate. Which of those has been enhanced by the opportunities presented during the pandemic? They could be anything from the walks you’ve taken, the people you’ve helped, or the extra time you’ve been given as a result of not traveling.

Spend a few minutes really taking in what has been good. If you have someone nearby, share it with them and see if you can help them feel a bit better.
